Alan D. Karcher, age 87 of 144 Hillcrest Drive, Tiffin, Ohio died at 11:00 A.M., Sunday, May 7, 2023 at Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin, Ohio. He was born on July 1, 1935 in Sycamore, Ohio to John W. and Perle (Debolt) Karcher. He married Leatrice (McKinney) Karcher on May 26, 1956 and she survives in Tiffin, Ohio.
Surviving are the following children; Bruce (Tami) Karcher, Perrysville, Ohio, Janet (Jeff) Stutz, Danville, Ohio, Linda (David) Smith, Danville, Ohio, Lisa (Chuck) Murray, Ashland, Ohio and John (Myra) Karcher, Ashland, Ohio. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren. Alan was preceded in death by one brother, John Edwin Karcher, three sisters, Jeanna Cover, Faye Brunton, Nola Dunlap, two step-brothers, Harold Dunlap and Charles Dunlap, plus one grandchild.
Alan had worked for twenty-four years for Mansfield Plumbing Products and twenty years at American Standard, Tiffin, Ohio where he retired.
Alan was a member of the Plankton United Methodist Church, was a 1953 graduate of Sycamore High School and president of his class. He took some courses at Ohio State University, and then in 1967 he graduated from Lincoln Extension Institute. He was a member of the Loudonville and Tiffin Lions Clubs for many years where he was very involved in all of their activities and events. He was a member of the Tiffin American Legion Post #169. He served his country in the Army National Guard from 1954-1957. He gave blood for the Red Cross for many years and also helped Ned Gregg Auctioneering.
Alan was a very good handyman having built a log home for the family to live in. He also loved to help people, bowl and go golfing.
Funeral services for Alan will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 11:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
