James Eastmann Obituary

James E. (Smith) Eastmann, age 82 of rural Sycamore, Ohio died at 11:29 A.M., Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Mercy Health-Lorain, Ohio. He was born on July 7, 1943 in Nevada, Ohio to Elwood and Kathryn (Riedel) Smith. 

He is survived by a nephew, Christopher Smith, Amherst, Ohio and a niece, Jennifer Huffman, Findlay, Ohio, plus four great nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Edson Smith, who died May 4, 2001. 

He was a glazier having worked for many glass companies throughout Northwest Ohio. He was a 1961 graduate of Mohawk High School and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Upper Sandusky, Ohio where he played the piano and organ for the church.                                                                                              

James was a Vietnam Veteran having served in the Air Force. For hobbies, he attended flea markets in the area and loved to buy antiques and resell them and also loved his horses.

A graveside memorial service for James will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio with Rev. Kenneth Wessler officiating. The Sycamore American Legion Post #250 will conduct a military graveside service.
