Kenneth E. Ames, age 97 formerly of 210 South Sycamore Avenue, Sycamore, Ohio died at 9:01 P.M., Sunday, March 5, 2023 at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center, Upper Sandusky, Ohio. He was born on December 9, 1925 in Beach City, Ohio to Brice and Marie (Firestone) Ames. He married Blanch Irene (Curlis) Ames on August 25, 1946 at the Sycamore United Methodist Church and she died January 6, 1976.
Surviving are the following children: Ron (Charity) Ames, Sycamore, Ohio, Sue Quillen, Tiffin, Ohio, Lindel Bils, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, Kim Ames, Sycamore, Ohio and Polly (David) Stevens, McCutchenville, Ohio. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He also had a special companion for many years, Lois Bates, who survives. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Daune Ames, brother, Wilmer Ames, sister, Velma Ripley, and a son-in-law, Dave Bils.
Kenneth was a long hall truck Owner/Operator and also in his spare time was a heavy equipment operator.
He was a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church, was a lifetime member of the Sycamore American Legion Post #250, and also was a lifetime member of the VFW. He was a member of the Teamster Union 92, Canton, Ohio and the Central States United Teamster Union, Chicago, Illinois. He also was a World War ll Navy Veteran serving our country from 1943 - 1946.
Funeral services for Kenneth will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Amy Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio where the Sycamore American Legion Post #250 will conduct a military graveside service. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 from 11:00-1:00 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the funeral service.
