Melva Diane Schmitz

Melva Diane Schmitz, 86 of rural Carey, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2024. Diane was born May 27, 1938 in Carey to Melvin and Esther (Tanner) Hotelling. She married Robert W. Schmitz on October 1, 1960. He passed December 27, 2017.

Diane is survived by her brother, Ed Hotelling, Carey, and children, Eric J. Schmitz, rural Carey, and Stephanie Schmitz-Zimmerman (Scot), rural Carey. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Adam, Nicholas, and Cody Schmitz, and Olivia and Hannah Zimmerman. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Izabel and Grady.             

She was a 1956 graduate of Carey High School.

A private Christian burial for Diane will be held at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Frenchtown.
