Melvin L. Zellner age 87 of Sycamore, died at his residence on Apr. 8. 2025. He was born July 2, 1937 in Sycamore to the late Forrest O. and Florence L. (Kingseed) Stahl Zellner. He married Sharon K. Beard on Aug. 7, 1965, she preceded him in death on July 5, 2016.
Surviving are his daughters Lisa Zellner, Sycamore and Pamela (Steven) McCandlish, Lancaster, grandchildren Claire (Jake) Traxler, Grandview Heights, and Owen McCandlish. West Lafayette IN, and a sister Joyce Burke Miller, New Riegel. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Vickie Sue Zellner, a brother, Forrest Zellner Jr., and his twin sister, Melva Zellner.
He graduated in 1955 from Sycamore High School. Mr. Zellner served our country as a volunteer in the Army Reserves in the 1960’s. He was a lifelong grain farmer, and his love for farming was evident even in his retirement years, as he often traveled the county “road farming,” as he called it. Mr. Zellner was a member of the American Legion #250, and the Seneca County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed traveling, playing euchre, supporting his grandchildren in their sporting events, watching college basketball, taking car rides. and storytelling. His great memory aided in his ability to tell the most interesting stories and will be remembered for always finding the humor in things.
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM on Fri. April 11, 2025 in the Walton-Moore Funeral Home with Mrs. Rebecca Lust officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation will be held Apr. 11, 2025 from 9:30AM-11:00AM at the funeral home before time of services.
