Michael Smith Obituary

Michael H. Smith, age 69 of Findlay, Ohio died at 10:04 AM, Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Promedica Memorial Hospital, Fremont, Ohio. He was born on September 28, 1955 in Hanover, Pennsylvania to Glenn and Loretta (Bowers) Smith. He married Anne (Bray) Smith on August 1, 1995 and she survives in Findlay, Ohio.

Surviving are the following children: Sheri (Bryan) Clouse, rural Sycamore, Ohio, Jonathan (Michelle) McSherley, Colorado Springs, Colorado, and David (Kay) McSherley, Sycamore, Ohio. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, one brother, Scott (Ellen) Smith, Atlanta, Georgia and one sister, Winifried (Dave) Evans, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. 

Michael was a retired United Church of Christ minister having served churches in Pennsylvania and Indiana for 27 years.

He was a 1973 graduate of Cumberland Valley High School in New Kingstown, Pennsylvania. He also was a graduate of Penn State University, Harrisburg Campus and a 1998 graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. 

He was a member of the Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corp. They competed in a lot of contests and one year they finished second in the World Competition. At one time when he lived in New Kingstown, Pennsylvania he served as a volunteer fireman, he loved going hunting and fishing, stamp collecting, jewelry making and playing games on his computer. 

A memorial graveside service for Michael will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Bethel Cemetery, McCutchenville, Ohio with the Rev. Daniel Busch officiating.
