Russell E. Hudgins

Russell E. Hudgins, age 70 of Sycamore, Ohio died at 7:17 A.M., Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at home. He was born on April 24, 1954 in Tiffin, Ohio to John R. Hudgins Jr. and Ruth (Miller) Hudgins. John died on February 15, 2014 and Ruth survives in Sycamore. Russell never married. Russell is survived by a sister, Linda Hudgins, of Sycamore. 

Russell was a member of the Sycamore United Methodist Church and was a 1972 graduate of Mohawk High School. He attended The Ohio State University and later transferred to Bowling Green State University where he graduated in 1977 with a bachelors degree in elementary education. He taught one year at Glenwood Middle School from 1977-1978. He then became part of the junior high staff teaching science at East Junior High and then moved to the new Tiffin Middle School when it opened in 2003. During his tenure, he coached junior high track and wrestling. He retired from teaching in 2008. 

Russell was a member of the State Teachers Retirement System, the National Education Association, and the Ohio Education Association. For hobbies, he loved to play golf, enjoyed family trips to Lake Erie, and loved all sports connected with The Ohio State University Buckeyes. Russell also had a passion for the OSU Stone Lab at Lake Erie because they offered a combination of science and research.

Graveside funeral service and burial will be private at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore.
