Thelma Eileen Shuey, age 80 of Tiffin, Ohio passed away at 3:40 A.M., Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay, Ohio. She was born on March 9, 1938 to the late Ira and Mabel (Staley) Curry and was the youngest of eight children. She was preceded in death by fours brothers, Elmer, Harold, Paul Richard and Marion and three sisters, Irene, Grace and Geraldine.
She married her high school sweetheart from Melmore High School, William E. Shuey, on June 8, 1958 and they enjoyed 60 wonderful years. She is survived by her husband and together they have a son, Lonnie (Lisa) Shuey of Fremont, Ohio and a daughter, Candy (Rod) Walton, Findlay, Ohio. Also surviving are four grandchildren, David Shuey, Liberty Center, Ohio, Ariel (Ryan) Nearhood, Fremont, Ohio, Sean (Ashley) Walton, Perrysburg, Ohio, Kelly (Drew) Mulhern, Columbus, Ohio and two great grandchildren, Reid and Cole Walton, Perrysburg, Ohio.
Thelma was a homemaker, foster parent, and a talented seamstress. Her favorite pastime was gardening and tending to her flowers. She enjoyed attending her kid’s and grandkid’s events and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Cleveland Indians fan.
A longtime member of Harmony United Methodist Church in rural Tiffin and most recently Grace Community Church in Fremont where she loved singing in the choir. On Sundays after church, her and Bill would frequent Lake Erie to enjoy fresh perch from Jolly Rogers.
Visitation for Thelma will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home in Sycamore, Ohio. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home with Pastor Forrest Kirchenbauer officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Creek Cemetery, Seneca County, Ohio.
