Tim Aller Obituary

Tim Aller, age 72 of Sycamore, Ohio, passed away December 7th after a brief battle with cancer at his home.

He was born on October 22, 1953 and is the beloved husband of Jean (Walton) Aller, his high school sweetheart. The couple celebrated 50 years of marriage this year, building a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to family.

He is survived by his wife Jean; his daughters Kristi (Jacob) Ward of rural Sycamore, Ohio, Robin Staib of Goodyear, AZ, and Erin Castanien of Carey, Ohio; and his cherished grandchildren Isaac and Molly Ward, Matthew, Brianna, and Karleigh Staib, Cole, Drew, and Macy Castanien, and Sofia Sherman, who were the light of his life. To his grandkids, he went by many names including PawPaw, Tim, and Timmy Boy. He is also survived by his sister Nancy (Aller) Bentz and brother Rod (Janet) Aller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Margaret “Peg” (Stickley) Aller, his sister Jane (Aller) Hecker, and brother-in-law Mike Bentz.

Tim was a 1972 high school graduate from Mohawk High School. He was the co-owner of Sycamore Contracting for 41 years until his retirement, after which he worked part-time at AFS in Tiffin. A highly skilled handyman and professional plumber, he was always helping others solve their problems. Though he liked to say he was not that smart, those who knew him best knew him to be the one who could figure out any problem —and he had a US patent to prove it.

Throughout his life, he was dedicated to his community and faith. He taught Sunday School for many years alongside Jean and served on consistory at Sycamore United Church of Christ for several years. He was responsible for maintenance at the church and played dart ball there for many years. His faith in God never wavered to the end.

Tim was always quick with his humor. If someone said "Well…", he would reply "That's a deep subject." He lived by his motto: "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." He appreciated fine cinema, including watching untold numbers of The Young and the Restless, westerns, baking shows and Lawrence Welk episodes over the years. He also enjoyed bowling in the Community League at Bowlmor Lanes in Sycamore for many years.

Among his family, Tim was known for baking the most delicious cinnamon rolls, snickerdoodles, and rice pudding. Garlic wasn’t his favorite. He looked forward to annual fishing trips to McGregor Bay, Canada with family and treasured family vacations to Jamaica. He especially loved visiting his daughter and grandchildren in Arizona, camping with his grandkids, and attending their sporting events, concerts, graduations, and musicals. He took pride in helping teach his grandchildren how to drive and being present for life's important moments.

Tim loved his family and especially his grandchildren immensely—and he wanted nothing more than for them to have good and fulfilling lives, and to "stay out of trouble." Most of all, he loved his wife, Jean, with whom he left a lifetime of cherished memories and the loving family that they raised together. He will be missed.
