William H. Sowers, Sr.

William H. Sowers Sr., age 80, of 15330 W. Beechwood Road, Findlay, Ohio and formerly of Sycamore, Ohio died at 12:40 A.M., Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Fox Run Manor, Findlay, Ohio. He was born on December 20, 1939 in Sycamore, Ohio to Glenn and Winifred (Luman) Sowers. He married Goldie (Funk) Sowers and they later divorced.                                             

Surviving are the following children, Bill (Alice) Sowers Jr., rural, Sycamore, O., Michael Sowers, Findlay, O., Patti Hetzel, rural Sycamore, O., Gary (Diann) Sowers, Findlay, O., Scott (Holly) Sowers, Ostrander, O., and Dawn Sowers, Findlay, O. Also surviving are eleven grandchildren, Chad, Dustin, Brock and Eric Sowers, Rochelle Brown, Kerry and Andrea Hetzel, Cole Sowers, Jacob and Isabelle Sowers, and Katelyn Walter, plus eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bob Sowers, and a sister, Carolyn Trumbo, besides his parents.                                                                                       

Bill was the retired owner of Bill Sowers Tree Service and Nursery in Sycamore, Ohio. He was a graduate of Sycamore High School, was a former member of the Findlay Moose Lodge # 362 and the Sycamore American Legion Post # 250. He was a member of the National Arborist Association and the International Society of Arborculture (ISA).                                             

For hobbies Bill collected old lanterns, loved to fish and hunt, watch the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and the Detroit Red Wings. He especially loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.                   

A memorial service for Bill will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 12 :00 P.M. at the Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, Ohio with the Rev. Glory Geib officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, Ohio. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2020 from 10:00-12:00 P.M. prior to the memorial service. It will be required to wear a mask and social distance on Saturday.
