William “Bill” Herbert Montz, age 89 died September 10, 2019 at his home in New Port Richey, Florida. He was born in Tiffin, Ohio to Herbert and Mildred (Feagle) Montz on December 9, 1929. He married Cara Lee (Burdge) Montz and she is deceased.
Surviving are three daughters, Debra Riker (Husband, Carl deceased), Ronda (Joseph) Garman and Beth (Greg) Derr-Martin. Also surviving are eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He is survived by three sisters, Frances (Gerald) Garn, Cathryn (Eugene) Biller and Carolyn (Don) Wellman. He was preceded in death by brothers, James (Marge) Montz, Robert (Cheryl) Montz, sisters, Doris (George) Wertz, Marian (Frank) Vondenberg, Helen (Dick) Cline and Betty (Jerry) Rhoad.
Bill served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. Home Hospice in Florida had a pinning ceremony while under their care for his military service. He was the “handyman” throughout his neighborhood and helped many in need.
In lieu of a funeral, his ashes will be interred in a cemetery for veterans in Florida. Family and friends may gather at the Sycamore United Methodist Church, 211 N. Sycamore Avenue, Sycamore, Ohio for a “Celebration of Bill’s Life” on Saturday, October 12, 2019 from 1:00-3:00 P.M. Please wear bright “Florida” attire.
